The structure consists of two blades which are very sharp and bypass one another when they are closed. The jaws of bypass ones are made of either a combination of straight and curved or just one of the above. Anvil type consists of only one blade and a straight edge which is generally made out of a comparatively softer metal. This type has a screw to adjust the plate in order to replace entirely or for compensating the wear.
