All the Spice and Pepper about Getting an Acting Job
Who does not want to become a TV actor and be seen on
Satellite TV
? It is the only dream for many budding youngsters. They like celebrity status and all the glory that come along with it. But dreams die as fast as they are born, and the select few who persist with their ambition live to see their dream come true. Entertainment is too vast a field and there is a place for everyone who has the patience and makes a persistent effort.
Here are some rules for those who have the burning desire to become a TV actor. Most of these rule are basic and common sense, follow them rigorously; there is no reason why you should not succeed like the others who already have.
1. Learn to act first. Enroll in a specialized school that will train you to become a TV actor. There are numerous of them around the US and more particularly in Hollywood. Before you select the appropriate school for your needs, just find out from the school directors the number of successful actors they have produced in the fast. The more successful ones tend to charge several times the fee than a lesser known one, but don't go by the fee alone. See if they have the right kind of faculty. Remember that acting is not like any other study courses you take in a college, you have to be strongly motivated, and your learning curve should include more than mere acting. So you should be willing to go that extra mileage and supplement your curriculum with extra reading and practice.
2. Be willing to travel a lot, especially where the action takes place. Acting schools can be located anywhere in the US, but to keep yourself abreast of the latest development, travel as much as you can to places like Los Angles and New York; that is where most of the casting directors live and work. It should help you a lot if you can offer your services to them willingly, without even getting paid. That way you get an opportunity to getting noticed in the circles that matter. Rest is all about how you use the contacts you will cultivate.
3. Commit yourself to the job you have always wanted; becoming an actor. Behind all the glamour and glitz you hear about movies and TV shows, there is always someone sweating it out on the shooting floor. Be willing to work late hours, offer to do others work very willingly, and soon you will have all the experiences besides the education you get in the acting school. Seeing things yourselves practically, rather than getting a certificate is more important, remember that.
4. Be nice to everyone you meet in the acting studios. Your performance and projection on the screen is actually the outcome of many others who actually make things happen. Keep in mind that a cameraman has all the tricks to do or undo your ambitions, just as much as the makeover man. A little mischief on their part is all that it takes to break your career into pieces. You also have to be a good public relations person; it is like the cream on the cake.
5. Finally patience; practice it as you would your acting. Not everyone from acting schools shine; in fact most of them give up unable to bear the rigor associated with getting a good acting job. TV shows and movies are expensive to make and pose a great financial risk to those who make them. The number of failures is ridiculously high to the successes. You should be able to persist in spite of the many rejections you will receive, but the silver lining is that those who consistently peruse their ambition succeed at last, and in a big way too.
